RISK is a family affair, Robert, Irene, Sarah and Kelly
It was a big RISK making my first Napa wine. Oakville is very competitive and you have to be good to get attention. We were able to craft a wine that won 3 Double Golds, and 93 pts in Wine Enthusiast. RISK stands for Robert , Irene Sarah and Kelly, the Smerling family.

2014 Oakville Cabernet
Our Oakville, Napa Valley wine is hand picked from the vines. We ferment in small lots and then age in New French oak barrels for 18 months. This wine has concentrated layers of black fruit, coffee and dried herbs. The polished tannin will make this a great wine to cellar for the next decade. 110 cases produced.

2017 Amador Barbera
I have returned to my roots with this RISK Barbera. When I started Renwood over 30 years ago I wanted to make Italian varietals like Barbera. Zin was an after thought. I have captured the essence of the Piedmont region in this well balanced wine. Just the right amount of dark fruit with hints of acid, aged in oak for 9 months not to mask the flavors.

2018 Sangiovese
The sister wine to our Barbera, comes from San Francisco Bay. This is an earthy wine, equal to the great Chianti's I produced in Italy. Barrel aged for one year, this wine has wonderful notes of fresh raspberries and soft hints spice. An easy drinking wine.
